Dr. Elgin received an undergraduate degree from The University of California, San Diego. He attended medical school at The University of Chicago where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed medical and cardiovascular training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he served as the Chief of Medical Residents. He was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services of Health Sciences from 2000-2007. He completed interventional training at The University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Elgin served in the US Army for 11 years including a one year tour in Iraq as a battalion surgeon in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
